How To Reduce Cellulite and Tighten Skin

How To Reduce Cellulite and Tighten Skin

By Adetoun Adeyemo, January 7th, 2019. 10:00am

Are you someone who suffers with cellulite?

Cellulite is a common problem amongst both women and men, but mostly women. Cellulite is the dimpling and uneven texture of the skin. It is usually caused by a natural process where the subcutaneous fat found in our connective tissue is pushed out of the cavity or wall that is supposed to contain it. Once it surpasses the barrier, the fat becomes visible on the skin. This is when you will notice the area looking like an orange peel.

There are three grades of cellulite:

1 When you pinch the skin, you do not see cellulite

2 When you pinch the skin and see cellulite

3 When you stand and see cellulite without pinching the skin

No matter the degree of cellulite, any form of it can be embarrassing. But do keep in mind, cellulite is not unhealthy nor dangerous – just extremely troubling for a vast majority of people. There are various products out there that claim to reduce the visibility of cellulite, but did you know that at Doublecrown MedSpa we have a solution to tighten skin and reduce cellulite? The body contouring treatment is

Venus Legacy!

Who is an ideal candidate for Venus Legacy?

The ideal candidate for Venus Legacy is someone who is:

• At their ideal weight/BMI

• Has loose skin they want tightened

• And, has cellulite that they want to reduce.

Venus Legacy is a radio-frequency technology. The purpose of this treatment is to heat up your inner skin to a therapeutic temperature. When your inner skin gets to the appropriate temperature, your body begins to stimulate fresh new collagen and elasticity. This leaves our skin looking smoother, tighter, and plumper.

How many treatments are needed?

Venus Legacy is a series of 6-8 treatments, depending on the area being treated. When treating the back of the thigh, banana roll, and buttocks, at least 8 treatments are required to see results. When treating the face or neck, at least 6 treatments are needed because the area is so concentrated.

It is highly recommended that each treatment should be done one to two weeks apart. Consistency is key when it comes to Venus Legacy.  Just like working out, going to the gym once will only show immediate results. But if you work out consistently for 8 weeks, your results will last longer and will be more prominent. By getting Venus Legacy once a week, after each treatment, your cellulite will soften and diminish.

Venus Legacy is not a permanent solution. To maintain results, our providers recommend that after each treatment you should continue to eat a healthy diet and drink plenty of water. And with the natural aging process, our providers recommend that after your 8 treatments, a treatment at least once a quarter will keep your skin looking tight and healthy. For instance, if you are someone with level 3 cellulite – you may want to get another 8 treatments done for more results.

Hydration is Important

Before a Venus Legacy treatment, you should be well hydrated. During treatment, your body needs to be at a therapeutic temperature and when your body gets to this safe temperature, the technology breaks up the fat cells leaving the cellulite less dense and less prominent. To better your results, after treatment, we recommend that you to continue to stay hydrated which helps flush out toxins and jump-start the stimulation.

Embarrassed by your cellulite?

I recommend Sona Skin. Call for your Consultant today to learn more about Venus Legacy!

12 Korean secret Beauty Lifestyle for Perfect Skin

12 Korean secret Beauty Lifestyle for Perfect Skin

Barley tea is about to become your new best friend.

By Adetoun Adeyemo December 30, 2018. 10:30am

I must admit, I love Korean beauty products, and working in the beauty industry, the pressure is multiplied to have impeccable skin. I was groomed from birth by my mother, aunts, and countless maternal figures on how to eat, wash, and care for my skin. It’s just part of Korean beauty culture, which isn’t about products at its core, but about skin-preserving methods and techniques.

Do you like Korean beauty products?

Yes, I love them!

I haven’t had the chance to try any yet.

1. Give your face a steam massage in the shower.

Skin clinics are down every block in South Korea, where you can get a facial massage as easy as a budget manicure. I recommend not only using circular motions with your fingers, but also tapping in rotating motions — starting on the forehead, then the cheekbones, cheeks, and working down to the jawbone. Massaging increases circulation and creates a dewy complexion. For added benefit use an oil cleanser to maximize hydration.

2. Exfoliate with a washcloth soaked in hot water.

My aunt is 70 and has no wrinkles. Her secret? She uses a nubby washcloth to massage her face every day, using upward moving, circular strokes.

3. Use a charcoal sheet face mask.

Buying sheet masks is as common as getting Kleenex in South Korea. An all the rage ingredient? Charcoal. It detoxes and exfoliates your skin, and all you have to do is let the sheet sit on your face for 15 to 20 minutes while you relax. I like this one from Dr. Jart.

4. Try blurring to create HD perfect skin.

You know when roll out of bed and think OMG, how do I hide all of this? Try the Korean blurring trick, which basically means using one or several smart coverage products (my go-to is Iope’s Air Cushion foundation) with a makeup brush to wipe out and “blur” unwanted imperfections. If you use an air-cushion foundation, a signature Korean cosmetic, you can blur like a pro, because the formula flexes from ultra sheer to total-coverage with each application without ever looking heavy.

5. Apply a facial essence between two layers of moisturizer.

Many modern Korean women feel that essences are the key to sealing in all the goodies of your daily cleansing. Essences are mild, skin nutrient-filled solutions (not toners) that hydrate your skin and are applied after cleansing (here’s one of my new favorite ones by Mizon). The next step is to add a serum, and then you can add your moisturizer for maximum skin elasticity and hydration.

6. Bring out the natural flush of your lips.

By merely enhancing your own lip color, your complexion will actually look younger and more vibrant. Try a favorite of mine, Dior Addict Lip Glow Color Awakening Lip Balm, which adjusts to the individual chemistry of your lips, making them radiant. And with wild mango as one of its moisturizing ingredients, it smells positively amazing.

7. Try a lip tint/oil for your lips.

These nutrient-rich lip oil treatments slide like butter (yes, really) onto your lips, and also give you a sheer pop of color with zero stickiness. I love this one by Julep, which has a blend of Korean Camellia oil, as well as avocado and rosehip oils.

8. Use an overnight sleeping mask.

It’s during sleep that your skin cells turnover and do their hardest work at cell recovery. This is the best time to hyper-moisturize and work on a tired complexion. I like to apply an intensive sleeping mask to correct any dullness. When you wake up, weeks of wear and tear will have come off of your face. Trust me.

9. Drink barley tea.

Ever gone to a Korean restaurant and gotten a nutty tasting tea? It’s probably roasted barely tea, which is what is served to Korean babies from birth to fortify their skin and overall well-being. Barley tea is rich in anti-oxidants and one study showed that drinking it can improve blood circulation. Some suggest it may even double as a weight loss drink. You just can’t go wrong!

10. Crack open an ampoule for any skin SOS.

First things first: an ampoule is like a face serum on steroids. It contains the highest concentration of active ingredients to repair, rebalance, and recharge cells in the shortest amount of time (Dr. Grandel’s Beauty Flash is my favorite). Apply a few drops of the fluid, housed in a pinky-sized vial, before your essence to target and treat hyperpigmentation, dullness, and acne.

11. Practice mouth stretches.

Channel your inner Eliza Doolittle and say A-E-I-O-U in an exaggerated way. Repeat three times. It sounds silly, but many swear this trick improves circulation and brightens skin tone. It certainly can’t hurt, so I’ll let you be the judge.

12. Detox your private parts.

Gwyneth Paltrow is a fan of vaginal steams, called “chai-yok,” which involve sitting naked on an open-seated stool above a steaming pot of water filled with medicinal and aromatic herbs such as mugwort for 30 to 45 minutes. The treatment supposedly helps women with infertility issues by “cleansing” the uterus and balancing hormone levels. V-steams have plenty of (very) vocal critics, but the practice’s devotees swear by them. At the very least, you’ll get a relaxing, surprisingly pleasant half hour to yourself — so yeah, they’re worth it

30 Simple Ways To Prevent Acne (You are on your way to better skin)

30 Simple Ways To Prevent Acne (You are on your way to better skin)

Posted on October 9, 2018

By Adetoun Adeyemo

These are all good basic skin regimens that may help with the acne battle: Cleanse gently twice daily. Apply a gel or cream containing 5% benzoyl peroxide; an alternative is sulfur or resorcinol. At night, apply a spot cream containing sulfur to the affected areas. Use a light skin moisturizer and water-based makeup.

Here are 30 simple ways to prevent and get rid of acne.

• Learn what type of skin you have so you know how to treat it.

• Find out if you are allergic to anything.

• Wash your face day and night.

• Wash your face after sweating.

• Avoid towels on your face.

• Don’t over-wash your face. This has adverse effects.

• Exfoliate once or twice a week to get in a deeper cleanse.

• Add a toner in your skincare routine.

• Use SPF every day even indoors.

• Stay hydrated. Drink plenty water. Dehydration causes breakouts.

• Eat healthy. Eat fruit and vegetables to get in your nutrients.

• Exercise regularly, your skin and body will thank you for it.

• Reduce your alcohol and dairy intake.

• Quit smoking. It makes your skin dull and gives you wrinkles.

• Cut back on carbohydrates and sugar. They can manifest in the form of acne.

• Cut back on oily food

• Find ways to de-stress. When you are stressed, your skin shows it.

• Make sure you get enough sleep. 6-8 hours.

• Don’t sleep in your makeup. Always wash it off.

• Try going without makeup for a day or two to let your skin breathe.

• Keep hair off your face. You don’t want hair products getting into your skin.

• Avoid fragrance in your skin care products

• Stop touching your face all

• Use products in a tube rather than in a jar. Putting your fingers into things can cause bacteria to build up.

• Try not to pick your face when you have acne.

• Treat your acne immediately. Don’t wait days or weeks to do something about it.

• Wash your make up brushes often.

• Use anti bacterial wipes to clean your phone screen. Your phone contains bacteria which can cause breakouts.

• Wash your hats and caps so that accumulated sweat and bacteria doesn’t get to your face.

• Wash and change your pillow case often.

• Treat yourself to a spa day once in a while.

Relaxing Spa Day

• Use retinoids at night to help prevent acne and fade spots.

• If you have tried all of the above and you have not gotten and results, book an appointment with the dermatologist.

Checkout how to fade those annoying acne scars…

Checkout how to fade those annoying acne scars…

It’s not as hard as you think.

By Adetoun Adeyemo October 21, 2018

Dealing with spots can be bad enough, so the annoying aftermath can feel like metaphorically rubbing salt in your wounds, but unless your skin is damaged to the deep layers of the dermis, these reddy-pink or brown marks will eventually disappear.

While patience is key, there are some ways to speed up the fading of discolouration that remains after a spot. Try these tips for a brighter-faced future:

Always wear sunscreen

Try to avoid prolonged sun exposure as it will make the skin’s healing process slower, and wear a broad spectrum SPF daily to prevent the marks from appearing more obvious. UV exposure stimulates pigment production, causing spot scars to darken, so sun protection really is key to fading discolouration.

Exfoliate with AHA and BHA

What-HA? AHA stands for alpha hydroxy acid such as glycolic and lactic acids (think anti-ageing), while BHA, or beta hydroxy acid, refers to salicylic acid (think anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory) and both AHA and BHA are exfoliants that will promote a more-even skin tone. A combo of the two will help to encourage the rejuvenation of the skin, without you having to scrub your skin red-raw and cause more damage. We recommend using the Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser (£34, daily which helps improve cell-turnover.

Pick vitamin C-loaded products

Another non-scary acid that works wonders on complexion clarity is ascorbic acid, or vitamin C. This free radical-fighter aids inflammation and fades pigment patches. Two skin-brightening serums powered with vitamin C that are equally recommended include the Ren radiance Perfecting Serum (£35, and the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum Collagen Booster (£23.50,

Repair your complexion

Rosehip oil can work wonders when it comes to calming, soothing and repairing damaged skin, so much so, it’s been used to increase healing time following the treatment of burns. Try MV Organics Rose Plus Booster (£72, it’s full of high quality essential oils (including rosehip and jojoba), just add a couple of drops into your moisturiser to help fade stubborn spots.

Get professional resurfacing facials

Talk to a dermatologist about treatments such as Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and microdermabrasion, which can be highly effective in reducing scars and wrinkles more than at-home exfoliation can. For an easy way in, try the Elemis BIOTEC Skin Resurfacer Facial, available at The House of Elemis and Elemis Spas nationwide.

Is Laser Hair Removal Really Worth It?

Is Laser Hair Removal Really Worth It?

Oct 1st, 2018 3:25 PM

by Adetoun Adeyemo

Many  years ago I decided to stop shaving my legs and switched to waxing. I was sick of ingrown hairs and the little red bumps that formed on my lower legs from an old school razor. (Note to readers: If this is already too much information, this article is probably not for you.) Waxing your legs, I soon learned, is wonderful—for three days. Then the hair begins to creep back in and you are stuck with it for at least 9month, throughout my pregnancy moments. It was so hard, that everything single on me grow so fast. At that time I knew I have to try Laser after the arrival of my baby. No more of this back-and-forth business, I decided. It was time to look into a more permanent option.

I remembered first hearing about laser hair removal years ago when people were first talking about it and thinking, “Eek, that sounds risky, I’m going to wait and see if this goes the way of the LaserDisc or the DVD.” Basically I wanted to make sure it was legit and worth the time, pain, and cost.

The way laser hair removal works, I soon discovered from a quick bit of precautionary research, is that pulses of highly concentrated light are emitted from the laser into the hair follicles. The pigment in the follicles absorbs the light and that destroys the hair. When I read that 90 percent of laser hair removal patients who are good candidates for the procedure report permanent hair loss after an average of three to six sessions, I was sold. “Chewbacca be gone,” I vowed to myself. “Next year, I am getting my legs lasered.”

My interest was particularly piqued by the spate of at-home laser treatments recently on the market. Could it be that easy? An investigation into the leading brands revealed some intriguing contenders, from the Tria 4X (an FDA-cleared device that claims to deliver more than triple the hair-eliminating energy of its DIY peers) to the IluminageTOUCH (which is approved to safetly treat a wider of skin tones than traditional lasers). But while the convenience of zapping away on my couch while watching Law & Order: SVU was seductive, none seemed quite right. I can barely operate my electric kettle—should I really be handling a laser?

“I advise caution because they’re supposed to be much less intense than in office lasers but in the wrong hands you can probably do some serious damage if you’re double- or- triple pulsing areas that you shouldn’t be,. “Typically people at home tend to be aggressive with themselves because they think that they can get a faster, better result without realizing potential consequences.”

I learned that in order to have bikini-worthy legs this season I would need to start the laser process in peak tights-and-boots weather. “Hairs have a growth phase and also a resting and a falling-out phase,. “Some of the hairs are not there right now because they are in the rest phase and not every hair will respond to the pulses.” Hence the need for multiple sessions, spaced about one month apart, the typical length of a hair-growth cycle.

I am next instructed to put on a pair of bottle-green goggles. Before we begin, she shares with me the one description of laser hair removal I have heard before: “It feels like a rubber band being flicked against your skin multiple times.”

Either I am wrong, or my pain threshold is incredibly low, because I find laser hair removal excruciatingly uncomfortable. In fact, I start to think, I would take a flick of a rubber band any day over the repeated burning zap of the laser. It feels like someone is taking a lit match to my leg and holding it up close. The darker the hair, the coarser it is; therefore more energy is emitted onto that follicle, causing greater discomfort. When those hairs are zapped, it feels like a bee sting—and you just have to hope there aren’t too many.

Clearly I’m not alone in this. Nearly half a million laser treatments were performed by dermatological surgeons in 2011 (the last year that collected data is available) according to the American Society for Dermatological Surgery, so it must be worth the minor suffering. Most people who get laser treatments are focusing on smaller areas of hair—underarm, upper lip, bikini line. These areas also happen to be much more sensitive: The very idea of getting my bikini line. These areas also happen to be much more sensitive. The lower leg, on the other hand, is one of the largest areas that they laser and it takes about 25 minutes altogether for both legs upon each visit.

By my next appointment I begin to see a real difference when I visit. The laser picks up a lot more “energy” when I find the whole experience far less painful. For several days following each treatment, I have a series of small red bumps on my legs and this actually elates me because I know it means that the laser has picked up that follicle and when the redness dies down that spot will be hair-free for life—a delightful thought as summer, and a season of confidently wearing my favorite miniskirt, begins.

Be Merry and Cheer To Your Skincare – Useful Tips To Follow In Winter

Be Merry and Cheer To Your Skincare – Useful Tips To Follow In Winter

By Editor, December 1st, 2017

We are now in December, and those temperatures are dropping letting us know that winter is upon us. Even though the weather can make the leaves fall it doesn’t mean your face has to fall with them.

I’m a Cosmetologist and a Blogger with an average budget to spend on skincare. I can’t afford the celebrity products, but I want to make the right purchases for my dollar to go the extra mile.

So I’m sharing with you my favorite Natural remedies for irritable skin, my favorite products that work, and the perfect foundation to for everyday use! I’m an everyday girl that wants my skin to look like an A-lister, and this is how I get it.

Adetoun Adeyemo.

Natural Remedies For Irritable Dry Skin

1. Coconut Oil Is No Secret

After spending this last summer traveling the Baltic on a cruise ship, I developed extremely dry skin, and it’s only gotten worse since returning to the U.S. The seasons were changing, and I desperately needed a quick pick me up when I ran out of products on the ship.

My husband was working as a singer, so he used coconut oil periodically to help soothe his vocal cords. After several days at sea, my face became really dry that I needed something quick to relieve the flakiness and that’s where Coconut Oil became my best friend.

Coconut Oil is commonly used for cooking, but it’s also filled with nutrients as well medium fatty acids. It contains something called Lauric acid; a common nutrient in breastmilk.

These two nourishing qualities are the perfect combo for moisturizing your face. If you have oily skin, I would recommend using just a dime size, but for me, there are no boundaries to how much I put on.

2. Just Add Honey

Need a scrub to help with dry patches on your knees or feet? You can go all natural with sugar and honey scrub. You can even add a little milk or coconut oil to make it creamy and less dry.

Also, did you know that honey is great for preventing acne? Yes, really! It’s antibacterial which helps with acne prevention as well as anti-aging. You aren’t limited to just a scrub when it comes to honey.

You can also create a natural honey face mask.

Make sure to buy quality natural honey, anything else is filled with artificial sugars that could cause breakouts. Just add a little water and smooth it out upon your skin.

Leave it on for 15-20 minutes and feel the texture of your skin be as smooth as a baby’s bottom.

3. Got Milk? Try A Milk Cleanser

For years I have settled for a dehydrated face after I use of my daily face wash. Have you experienced that?

Your skin feels so tight like a rubber band, completely zapped of its natural oils. I knew this feeling all too well until I discovered milk!

Allure recently released some of their favorite moisturizing cleaners that I like the best; its milk-based cleaner with a blend of five skin conditioners to balance out your skin and give it life!

4. Eat Clean For Clear Skin

Cleaning up your diet can do wonders for your skin! As Americans, we tend to gravitate towards the sugary and high in fat foods that damage our bodies and our face. These low-quality foods cause blemishes, oily skin, skin irritations and the list goes on and on.

Toss out the cookie jar! Large amounts of sugar can cause your insulin levels to spike, therefore, causing acne breakouts and skin rashes that no one wants.

Throw out the potato chips and substitute them with foods high in Omega 3’s such as fish oil, seeds like sunflowers, and egg yolks to name a few.

Well known Dermatologist Jessica Wu says, “I tell my patients that what they put in their mouths is as important as the products they apply on their skin,” (dermatologist and creator of Dr. Jessica Wu Skincare)

Must-Have Budget Friendly Skincare Products

1. Belief Moisturizing Eye Bomb Cream

This blue little bottle contains hydrating ingredients like herbs, comfrey leaf, and lastly an elasticity-boosting pennywort herb. It cultivates fresh and radiant looking skin with a light yet effective moisturizer that blends into the skin easily.

I noticed an immediate difference when I first applied it to my under eye bags. I struggle with everyday puffiness under my eyes, and I saw a quick change in just a few days after using this eye bomb.

Wear it under your makeup as part of your daily skin routine or try it before bed after you use your toner along with your nighttime moisturizer.

2. Argan Milk Hydrating Treatment

I told you I drink milk! Well, my skin does anyway. I love this moisturizing complex. It’s full of purified water and argan oil that nourishes and revitalizes the skin.

It’s milky smooth with a thin yet effective consistency. I apply this one my face before bed a few nights a week and rotate it with another moisturizer for even more effectiveness

Argan Oil Benefits

3. Seaberry Face Oil

This is my second moisturizing tool that I use in conjunction with the Argan Hydrating Treatment. I even apply some every now and then on my hands and knees. Just a couple drops will do, and the oil will go a long way.

I grew tired of the lotion consistency and wanted something that would instantly give my skin life and hydration.

I steered away from oils for the longest time out of fear of becoming too oily but little did I know it was the secret to my dryness.

I have been using this oil with a combination of the Hydrating Treatment, and I’ve seen a huge difference. Now if your skin is naturally oily use less than a dime size of this product.

Awaken Your Skin And Look Younger With These Two Christmas Gift Ideas For Yourself Or Someone You Love:

1. Glow Pro Micro needling Regeneration Kit

This fancy needling product is hot on the market right now. It’s the home solution to your micro needling needs saving you big bucks on the expensive $1000 sessions.

I saw this beautiful product at Nordstrom’s and immediately started asking the sales lady questions. Does it hurt? Users say that it feels like the intensity of a face scrub.

How does it work? Its tiny 450 microtip needles work with an LED light to lightly puncture the skin ever so slightly to stimulate your skin’s natural collagen.

It’s been featured as an Allure beauty product winner as well. It also allows your current skincare products to be 200 X more effective giving them a new canvas to work on.

2. Mia 2 Cleansing System

Young Woman Splashing Water on Face

One of the first things my mom taught me as a teenager was never to use my hands to wash my face. First of all our fingers contain some of the highest concentrations of oil glands on our body, and then we touch our face with them!

At a young age I’ve been using a face cloth to wash my makeup off, but sometimes that can even be tricky. I saw the bachelorette Ali Fedotosky using this Cleansing System in a video on Instagram, and I was immediately fixated on getting one of my own.

It’s a sonic brush solution that takes off makeup six times better than the average routine. It a beautiful design that treats* dry skin patches as well as blemishes.

I hope that you can revisit your skincare routine this holiday season because heaven knows mom is going to want to take plenty of holiday pictures.

Find time to exercise, eat healthy foods, and invest in some quality products that will really make a difference in the long run.

Be sure to visit my fashion blog website: for all things fashion and beauty! I have got some affordable dresses for winter gatherings you don’t want to miss as well as all the pictures from Europe that inspired my wardrobe from this summer. Happy Holidays!
